Portugal, were struggling at the beginning of the tournament- they were almost out of the competition at the first stage. They later emerged best losers. Long story short, they played finals with France who were the host country. They last beat France forty years ago and the last ten matches, they lost all to France. At the final of euro 2016, at the '90th minute, Andre' Pierre Gianac of France would have won the cup for his team but hit the bar (unlucky).
In the extra time, Ederzito Anto'nio Macedo Lopes (A Guinea Bissau born) scored the winning goal and Portugal lifted the trophy for the first time...This is a big lesson and i would conclude saying: It doesn't matter how badly you started, or doesn't matter how battered or abused you may be. It doesn't matter how many failed attempts you have recorded. What matter most is your END which always justifies the means. He who hold on tight would not slip. If you fall, it's ok. just don't remain fallen. Success comes if you believe and act. Funny enough, when Eder was to be brought into the field of play as a substitute for Sanchez, the commentators were screaming "why bring in a striker that never scores"? Alas, when he scored they all shouted "the striker that never scored has won the cup for Portugal". Amazing!
You have to BELIEVE!.
